How would you like a Camera Obscura at your outdoor event?
You’ve probably never had to answer that question before. Camera Obscuras are usually found in Victorian towers and seaside resorts, not roaming around parks and festivals.
But our Camera Obscura is a box which can be installed pretty much anywhere in minutes. And we’re always looking for new places to take it!
So what can a camera obscura provide?
- A new perspective on your event.
- A historical tool that teaches us about photography.
- The ability to take digital photographs inside (or with film if facilities allow!)
- A tool for artists to draw with.
- A unique attraction, made in Birmingham.
- Fun for all ages!
We’ve already taken the camera to events and venues including Moseley Folk Festival, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Birmingham Library, CoCoMad, Eyecandy Festival, Jewellery Quarter Festival, Cannon Hill Park and Warwick Bar Summer Fete. Is your event next?
Our commercial rate is £400 for the camera and two staff members for a full day within a 50 mile radius of Birmingham. We will work with your programming and can fully integrate into your event.
Our artistic rate, for arts festivals and funded events, is £200. Here we’re an autonomous entity appearing as part of the wider Birmingham Obscura project within your programming.
For community and non-profit events, where we can be guaranteed a large and varied crowd, we are usually happy to wave the fee but appreciate a contribution towards transportation costs and per-diem of £40. We will use the event to raise awareness and built support for the project.
(All rates are negotiable, of course. These are the ballpark figures.)
We also offer workshops tailored to your needs based on the camera obscura and pinhole photography.
